Proudly Supporting Canuck Place Children's Hospice

We are thrilled to announce that Fieldstone has teamed up with Canuck Place Children’s Hospice and visitors to our fall market will have the opportunity to make an optional donation to this amazing project upon admission. As mothers ourselves, we can’t begin to imagine the strain of caring for a child living with a life-threatening illness and one can’t help but be touched by the stories shared by families involved in the hospice program. The Vancouver Hospice is unable to expand anymore and work has begun to build a 30,000 square foot building next door to the Abbotsford Regional Hospital, nearly doubling the current capacity of Canuck Place. The project is estimated to take 3-5 years to complete and will have the ability to provide pediatric palliative care to to nearly half of the 222 children and families currently on the Canuck Place program, a number that is predicted to nearly double in the next 8 years.

46% of Canuck Place families currently live in the Fraser Health Region and the goal is to raise $13 million for the Abbotsford Hospice. This new location will make the program available for many Fraser Valley and Interior families and will lessen their need for travel, something that must currently cause considerable strain for so many. The new hospice will house 10 beds and 5 family suites in it’s 30, 000 square foot building.
“Our vision is to see that all children with life-threatening illnesses and their families have access to high-quality pediatric palliative care; and to that end, we are committed to provide leadership and work in partnership with community organizations and regional health authorities throughout the province to build local capacity.” Canuck Place
Please help us support Canuck Place by contributing to this worthy cause at Fieldstone on September 24th or by donating by any of the other fine options on their website.
